As many of you know, a lot of my fun and quirky ideas come from things that start on Twitter. Or at least, start as conversations on Twitter. Earlier today, another Broadway fan and I were discussing how fun it would be if there were an “OkCupid” for Broadway. And why not?! He, this fan, mentioned that he and all ten other straight guys who like Broadway would love that! I laughed, of course, BUT also pointed out that the girls and non-straight guys would probably love it, too.
Well, before I go and convince someone to build me a whole dating site just for Broadway fans, I thought we might want to test the waters. Then I got to thinking, maybe this isn’t just for people who are looking to date someone who loves Broadway as much as they do. (A fan once told me she’d never been to a show on a date, how sad is that?! That’s my date staple!) Maybe this is for people who want to make friends with other Broadway fans (a la the Broadway Secret Santa we do every Christmas). We’re getting really close to the start of school and maybe you’re moving to a new town and want to connect with other Broadway fans? My very best friends in the whole world are those that I met because of Broadway love, I want you to all experience the same thing.
Let’s try to make this happen. Get as many of your friends to participate in this as possible and we’ll see how it goes, yeah? I will make a pact with you– if it works and a lot of people participate, next time I will match people up for dates (love or friend dates, either one) just like I do with Secret Santa, so you don’t have to wait for Christmas. Sound fair?
So, how do we do it?
I am going to give you a form (which you will find below) to fill out. I will also comment below with certain “headers” (Where you’re from, what you’re looking for, etc) and you should comment with your form under that header. If someone sounds like you could get along with them, follow them on Twitter, strike up a conversation!
If there isn’t a header that works for you, make one! Are you starting a school I didn’t mention? Comment with your own “header” for it! I won’t be upset I will also try to add some as we go along.
It will look something like this:
Does this make sense? If not, ask questions below.
OK! Let’s go. Fill out this form. Comment under the appropriate header and then go tell your friends to do the same.
