#MusicMonday is a trend that started on twitter over a year ago. A lot of people used it for a while and then it started to fizzle out. Well, the problem is…I liked it. I liked it a lot. So, I kept it up on my twitter and decided to keep it up when this site started up as well. You wanna get something stuck in your head? This is the place to do it. Whatever is stuck in MY head on Monday, ends up in this post. Check back each week for more catchy tunes.
Today I woke up with “Opening Doors” from Stephen Sondheim’s recently Encore‘d show Merrily We Roll Along stuck in my head. Not just any part of it. Specifically the line that he wrote about needing a hum-able melody. It made me laugh since that’s a lot of the criticism he gets, but his music often ends up stuck in my head. So, I guess it’s not TOO much of a problem, right? Anyway, from there I moved on to the line that says, “Who wants to live in New York?” because sometimes I wonder that very thing. But today’s weather is nice, so I don’t so much mind our fair city.
